As the parent of a teenage girl dating a straightedge boy, I was curious why there seems to be so many differences in the straight edge philosophy on sex, while the views on drugs, alcohol, and smoking seem so clear?

Fri, February 29, 2008 - 3:43 PMIn the right context sex is a good thing where as drugs, cigarettes and alcohol rarely have a positive effect on your life. Abstinence from all premarital sex seems like a Christian value to me and all edgers are not Christian, me included. For some people just abstaining from one night stands might be edge in a scene full of sexual opportunities. I think if the guy is pressuring your daughter to have sex he is a bad boy and your daughter needs to clarify her values to herself and others.
