I'm not looking for approval or anything, and it clearly states on the front page what it is to be sXe, but would I be what you'd call "Straight Edge"? I don't smoke, drink, do drugs, I don't believe in promiscuous sex, and listen to punk/post hardcore music, but, I do eat meat and dairy products. I have recently been awakened to the cruelty done to animals, and as a result of that, I am considering a vegitarian diet and I currently try my best to buy cruelty-free products, but I'm just lost. I've searched countless websites and they all differ on one point-VEGAN-sXe or isn't sXe. I guess I just want to know if sXe would be the name for my poison-free lifestyle or not.

Wed, November 23, 2005 - 10:23 PMi know plenty of sXe ppl that eat meat and dairy products! then i know some that dont eat meat or dairy products! and they debate about it all the time! i understand completely where you are coming from because there really isnt a certain "guideline" to being sXe. if you stay true to not smoking,drinking,doing drugs, and casual sex i say your sXe me! i eat meat and dairy products BUT i stay true and to me thats all that matters!

it would be different if we were hunting wild animals who got to live full, free, and decent lives... but we're not. they grow up in tiny cages pumped full of hormones. that shit will give you colon cancer among many other things. its cruel and its bad for you!
so yeah, go vegetarian is my advice
and if its not too hard, go vegan

Edge isn't just something that describes a list of beliefs, it's a pledge to yourself. A lifetime commitent. A code of integrity. If you choose to live by it, then you are indeed, straight edge.

i don't eat meat or anything and haven't done so in 22 years.
veganism etc is good.

I stopped eating meat before I became straight edge, but it doesn't say anywhere that you have to do it or that you cannot do it vice versa if you want to. Now do yourself a favor and cook up some veggie burgers and blast some Gorilla Biscuits while you're at it. ;)
