hey guys,
i have been edge for a few years now and i am PROUD of my edge. what im after though is some help. i dont agree with anyone that isnt edge, i completley dont understand them, i mean why would you want to contaminate your body and mind when you can be pure. what im in turmoil about though is the state of the world nowadays and how this fits in with my edge.for instance. the air is so polluted that we dont know what we are inhaling, it could be anything. i am seriously going to buy some of those face mask's you get from the DIY store to wear, im very concerned about the air, and i think if you are TRULY edge you should be too.
my second concern is money. i mean paper notes. tests have shown that over 95% of paper notes show up traces of cocaine. what does this mean to me? im going to take the positive stance and cease my usage of paper money. again, i think that those of you that are serious about SXE should also follow suit. i propose a possible campaign, to either have notes cleaned, or taken out of circulation and replaced with coins. i dont want no drug money in my pockets. just think, every note you use to pay to get into a show with will probably have DRUGS on it. its completley not desired.
finally, i am concerned with the water that we drink. it is contasminated with so many chemicals that it is a third strike in the fight for straight edge. i CHOOSE not to pollute myself, i CHOOSE to take a stance but now the only pure substance that i can drink is full of chemicals? i suggest, nay, propose that everyone purchases water filtration systems, i have found a great company and im sure if we group together they will give a discount. seriously guys, dont do this to yourselves! take a stance!

Thu, February 1, 2007 - 12:02 AMHmm... Interesting. Here's my two cents because I happen to be awake and bored. Let me start off by saying that technically, you are 100% correct. I'm pretty neurotic in the stances I take, I've vomitted when I found out something I had ingested had alcohol in it. I even turn down opportunities to have casual sex with beautiful women in my dreams because it would go against my edge, and wake up rather pissed off that my carnal urges can't even be indulged by my subconscious. My edge permeates my being, in every decision and thought. Alas, I've grown to accept many things about the world we live in.
The only possible way to obtain a purity to the degree that you seem to be deeming "truly straightedge" would be to live in a jungle somewhere, away from civilization.
If you are that worried about the air, you may want to seriously consider moving away from the city. If you possess the constitution to carry around a mask ans wear it where ever you go, then holy shit my hat is off to you. I'll hold my breath or wear a mask or leave an area if bothered by the air, but in everyday life, I just deal with it.
Money is filthy. Everybody knows that. There have been the same kinds of statistics about traces of fecal matter being on money or anything that anyone touches. I wash my hands frequently, and that Purell stuff comes in handy too. As for the conceptual aspect of everyday cash being "drug money"- i don't subscride to it. Even if the physical bill itself had once been involved in an illegal transaction, by the time it gets into my pocket that piece of paper is representative of nothing but currency earned by my own hard work.
Everyone should filter their water, at least for the sake of taste if people don't want to agree with the heath reasons. Tap water can be plain gross. Keep an eye out for a company called Seldon. They've developed revolutionary water filtration technology and have been manufacturing filters for the U.S military. Politics aside, their filters once on the market will be the best out there, hands down.
Anyway thats how I feel. It comes to a point when you need to decide for yourself where you draw the line on these issues, and with any luck when you're done you'll be able to function in this world without completely losing your mind. I know it's a struggle I face every day. Good luck and high five!
